Mellow Yellow

mellow yellow.png

Yellow, like every other colour of the rainbow, comes in many shades.  Ask me to picture yellow and I think of the cheery, bright, happy, fun kind of yellow.  That yellow just wants to make me start singing, kicking down the cobblestones, lookin' for fun and feelin' kinda groovy...

You've probably guessed by now that I'm not afraid of a little bold colour (or blog post for that matter).  Well, yellow is one of those colours that lets you go all the way.  There is almost no other colour that can shine in lacquer like a lick of yellow.  But then, if iridescent yellow isn't your thang... you could always pop out a little dirty yellow or 'old gold'.

Over the years, yellow has been firmly on trend as a highlight colour.  Review your retro archives and you will see that it was dirty yellow or old gold back to mossy greens in the 1950s and 1960s... and who could forget the yellow and blue of the 80s?  I suspect those of you who went through that era might very well still be haunted.  Why do I have a sneaking suspicion it might make a return...?

Well, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, so tuck that bottom lip away sourpuss and enjoy this (1) mixed media painting by Christopher DiVincente and deliciously retro (2) table.  Perch yourself on the stunning (3) 1960s yellow lacquer seat while you gaze up at a super-popsicle (4) 1996 Odalisca ceramic totem by Bitossi in yellow, white and black.  Waiting for the DHL man?  You've stashed away your Yellow Pages in the (5) Harvey Probber modular wall unit, glimmering under a (6) Vistosi orange and yellow murano disc chandelier.  All you can do now is stretch out on the bold (7) 1960s yellow love seat, an ode to Jack Lenor Larsen, and wait for the sound of footsteps to come running up the yellow brick driveway...
